Deputy CEO/Director
Martin Frick is Deputy CEO/Director of the Global Humanitarian Forum. A long-time German diplomat prior to joining the Forum, Dr Frick served as the Deputy Ambassador in Albania from 2001-2002. From 2002-2005 Dr Frick was the Cabinet Affairs Advisor to the German Federal Foreign Minister. He has since been the responsible German representative on the NGO committee of the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations, the UN Democracy Fund Board, for the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, and for human rights resolutions of the UN Security Council.
In 2007, during the German EU presidency, and on behalf of the European Union, Dr Frick was involved in the building of the UN Human Rights Council, including the Universal Periodic Review, and in negotiating resolutions on the Right to Development and the human rights situation in Darfur. Prior to his arrival at the Global Humanitarian Forum in October 2007, Dr Frick was the German delegate to the Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Committee of the UN General Assembly.
Dr Frick has a PhD in Law from Regensburg university, and a diploma in international relations from the university of Strasbourg.
